ROUGH DRAFT
Potential Business Strategies / NFL Marketing / Promotional values for the only copyright protected Football card game:
- A marketing agent of a certain player licenses this game from American Gridiron Football, LLC (AGF) to sell at games and retail venues. I.E. At all stadium games as an interactive souvenir - gift and at J.C. Penney. This game would be produced for approximately $4 USD and sold for upwards of $30 USD. The card game would cost approximately fifty cents and could easily sell for Five dollars. They could commemorate both the player records AND the team he is contracted with. This could prove to be an invaluable promotions tool while generating respectable profits.
- A Team owner could purchase the rights to the game for $5M + 5% royalties and sub license the game for all other teams in the NFL, WFL, NCAA ETC. He would control every aspect of this game use unlike any other national promotional tool, he would control this game's direction exclusively. Perhaps CO-printing sponsorships from beverage companies could use it as a Team/Beverage advertising device to the rest of the world. The huge potential for in home promotions could be immeasurable as there is a multi decade shelf life for the game. It could also be launched as a NCAA fundraiser with America's team logo on the box and playing field. The game could be set up to play only the team that held the license. I.E. COWBOYS VS. ALL OTHER TEAMS IN THE NFL,WFL, NCAA, ETC.
- An exclusivity with a major retailer could also be achieved. I.E. J.C.Penney, Wal-Mart or Toys R Us would be the only place to purchase the game besides the stadiums drawing many football fans to that specific retail chain after a media blitz endorsing the game. Hasbro, Mattel, and other toy industry giants could be involved in production, licensing and distribution for any plan of action.
- Noticing the massive revenues that Home Depot spends on advertising during Football games:
Home Depot and the NFL enjoy basically the same customer base. H.D. could contract the game with each City's Team as a gift item promoting the H.D. Orange colors associating the store with the NFL, or any other football group. Again sighting the home/shelf life and JOY FACTOR of this game, the orange H.D. logo and the NFL could be silently promoted through hours of play for decades with a profit from the sale of the game. An ad campaign and brand aid recognition that is immediately profitable from the sale of the game.
- The total advertising vehicle to a targeted audience could be used as a compact billboard, with many corporate sponsorships such as "Built Ford Tough", "Like a Rock","Have it Your Way", or "Fly the Friendly Skies" on the side of the box or printed on the field of play. Other shared customer base businesses to be considered could be CO Branding promotions through sports related restaurants such as Dave and Busters or the souvenir wheeling Hooters chain. Of course such advertising revenues would pay for the game's production costs, and then some...Rendering a retail product with no cost to the seller.
- Other unexplored directions for the game's use could be national airport souvenir retail sales, internet gift sales, Greek system/Fraternity staging or cheer team merchandising.
- Realizing that we have only scratched the surface on the many uses of this Player/Brand/Team new marketing tool, it would be great to hear of other such ideas. Much Thanx, Kenny Mac @ KLMc Marketing.
Quick Facts:
According to the NFL Properties report for last season, merchandising totals for the NFL were $2.9 billion dollars.
The Dallas Cowboys alone sold 274.3 million last season according to Sports Business & Industry Magazine.
USA Today's report on Top 10 merchandising teams are Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, TN Titans, MN Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, St. Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Stealers, San Francisco 49ers.
All Seven members of the American Gridiron Football company truly believe this will be the most sellable promotional tool in Football. The sheer size of this collectible, advertising interests per print, the "New Product Value" and the low cost could rival Team Jerseys, Pendants, Posters, Koozies, Ball Caps and the like.
"A very small company with a very big marketing tool!"
